Youth Everywhere are at Historic Risk for Online Harm

Most parents of young children, tweens and teens are painfully aware that serious, real-world risks confront their children when they are engaged in digital activities – even when they are interacting from the perceived safety of home.

Many of the most prevalent online harms associated to youth and their digital activities (cyber bullying, exposure to violent pornography, access to illegal drugs, sex trafficking, delivery of content promoting self-harm and eating disorders delivered through addictive feeds) may have been prevented if online services had followed best practices – and complied with applicable state and federal laws protecting children’s privacy and safety.

The Minors Protection Registry (MPR) effortlessly identifies minors to prevent unauthorized access to age-restricted digital services, websites, ads, and apps by enabling companies to be age-aware. The MPR is the front row of defense to make sure companies are doing all they can to keep minors out or let them in compliantly.

Let's Talk!

The Minors Protection Registry is designed to:

  • Alert digital providers of the age associated with a minor’s device and/or online identifiers such as phone and email.

  • Dramatically strengthen intelligence around minors’ digital identities.

  • Increase compliance.

  • Reduce fraudulent claims and greater access to age-appropriate services.

  • Make digital life safer for the world’s youth and their parents.

How does it work?

  • Like the Do Not Call registry, parents register their children’s device identifiers such as phone and email tied to the child’s real age.
  • Company subscribers query the registry API.
  • If the new user’s email and/or phone number is listed in the registry, the API will return their birthdate.
  • Based on this birthdate subscriber can offer age-appropriate content or block the user.
