Updated: India Finalizes DPDP Act Implementation Timeline
India has officially activated its long-awaited Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act, 2023), following the publication of the DPDP Rules, on November 13, 2025. This notification triggers the phased rollout of India’s comprehensive, consent-driven privacy regulation — with some obligations already in effect and others scheduled over the next 12 to 18 months.
With some of the highest standards globally for children’s data, these changes will impact platforms across gaming, education, social media, AI, and connected products. PRIVO continues to monitor new guidance and will share updates as India’s digital privacy ecosystem evolves.
